Metro Detroit Weekend Events
This weekend, the Detroit Opera House is hosting the Grand Slam Detroit Festival 2025 to celebrate the Detroit Tigers’ home opener against the Chicago White Sox. Set for Saturday, April 4, the festival will feature live music from 20 of Metro Detroit’s top DJs, massive beer tents, food trucks, games, and giant screens to catch all the game-day action. Sports fans can also enjoy a live pre-game broadcast hosted by Woodward Sports, featuring local sports legends Darren McCarty, Terry Foster, and Braylon Edwards. Tickets start at $20, promising a high-energy day of fun in the heart of Detroit.
Detroit’s biggest Opening Day celebration returns this weekend with the Detroit Home Opener Festival at the Madison Avenue Festival Grounds. Known as “the city’s original and largest party,” the event celebrates the Tigers’ home opener against the Chicago White Sox with massive beer tents, a full bar, food trucks, live entertainment, games, and sets from over 15 of Detroit’s top DJs. Open to ages 21 and up, the festival takes place on April 4, with tickets starting at $15.
The Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon returns to Detroit, running April 1–6 at the Fisher Theatre. The 23rd Annual Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade returns on April 6, bringing vibrant celebration and cultural pride to the heart of the city. One of Detroit’s largest parades, the event honors Greek heritage and independence with traditional music, dance performances, and family-friendly festivities. The parade steps off in front of the cathedral on E. Lafayette and continues down Lafayette to Beaubien. Admission is free, making it a can’t-miss cultural experience for all ages.
