Metro Detroit Weekend Events
Opening this weekend, Glenlore Trails presents “The Witching Hour,” a family-friendly nighttime walk along a mile-long wooden path filled with whimsically spooky sights and sounds. The immersive experience runs September 25 through November 2 and invites all ages to explore illuminated art, playful scares, and seasonal surprises under the trees.
It’s the final weekend for the Michigan Renaissance Festival, closing Sunday, Sept. 28 with the “Wonders of the World” theme. Guests can step into a 16th-century village with music, magic, juggling, jousting, and more than 100 artisan booths, alongside memorable characters such as mermaids, fairies, and knights. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.
Ford House’s Harvest Day takes place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring pony rides, lawn games, a petting zoo, face painting, and more than 60 local vendors. The family-friendly event also celebrates the grand opening of Ford House’s wetland boardwalk and includes a food drive supporting Just a Little Help of Michigan. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children, and free for ages under 3 at Ford House.
Blake’s Cider Mill opens its Haunted Attractions at Blake’s Big Apple this weekend, running weekends from Sept. 13 to Nov. 1. Visitors can choose a haunted hayride packed with ghosts, ghouls, and zombies, a 10-acre zombie paintball course, a three-story haunted barn, and Spookyland’s 3D maze with a corn maze, petting farm, and Terror Tunnel. Advance tickets are required, and prices vary by attraction.
This Sunday, Sept. 28, Zingerman’s Cornman Farms hosts its Oktoberfest Pop-Up, featuring a weekly special, Currywurst this week, alongside other Bavarian-inspired menu items. Live Bavarian music by Alpen Duo runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The series continues every Sunday during Oktoberfest. Tickets are $25.
